The Back Room @ Footworks Dance Center

For those not in the know, "The Back Room" is my
monthly blues soiree that is held at Footworks Dance Center.
Footworks is
located in the Warehouse District of Downtown Austin and
features a large bamboo-cushioned floor that is sweet for
dancers (and their knees!). There's plenty of parking for
all dancers. Each "Back Room" dance kicks off
with an hour lesson at 8pm and continues with three hours
of social dancing from 9pm to Midnight, with music spun by
yours truly, DJ "Sweet T"!
Lessons are taught by Austin's best best
instructors... and don't
expect just lessons on Blues Dancing. I want to expose dancers
to other styles and techniques that they've been curious about
but never had an opportunity to try… whether it's West Coast
Swing, Argentine Tango, Jazz or anything in between. Dancers
of all levels are welcome, but most classes will be geared
toward intermediate level dancers. And don't worry… you don't
need a partner to take a class.
In short, the classes are aimed at building better dancers,
and the dancing is aimed at having lots of fun. The Back Room
is meant to be a party, after all!
Admission
$10 - Hour long class and dance
$5 - Dance only
Check back here for more information on upcoming instructors,
classes and dates. Most dances will be held on the 4th Saturday
of the month, unless there's a holiday, competing event or I'm
out of town.

January 28th
Austin's newest resident in the dance community is none other than
Bill Borgida, and I'm happy to announce he'll be teaching the first
Back Room class of 2006! For those unfamiliar with Bill, he is an
internationally respected instructor and DJ who has influenced the
Lindy Hop scene for more than 10 years. He's regarded as a
"technique whore" (those are my words, folks) who is known
for his wonderful connection classes and his joy of dance. Bill has
taught and influenced a slew of the nation's most respected Lindy Hop
instructors and has taught all over the world; including workshops in
New Zealand, Singapore and Sweden.
Bill is also teaching a series of Swing and Blues classes at
Footworks starting Monday, January 16th. Email bill@billborgida.com

January 28th Class: Blues and Lindy Connection
Two great dances in one awesome class! Bill will teach us how to
integrate Blues Dancing techniques into Lindy Hop... and get us back
from Lindy to Blues again. If you're looking for a class that will
change your outlook on dancing, this is it. All levels are welcome
and no partners are needed.
